The Birds

the old man said his last goodbye,
then lowered his head to rest and die.
the birds came swiftly in the night
to feast and eat and taste his plight.
their hunger humms and strumms and sings as they toss around his
treasured things.
they care not about the man who lived but only what this man will give.
and if and when they're all fattened the same, they'll unanimously
bestow upon him an honorable man's name.
